Latisse and applicator on a counter, 50, Fabulous & Finally Free

Loving: Beautiful Lashes

Latisse

Fact, as we get older, our hair changes and typically thins. This includes our eyelashes and eyebrows! BUT…

Today, there are so many ways for people to look better than ever and I am truly all for it!

I love the look of long lashes! Many of my friends have lash extensions, which look amazing and are fairly reasonably priced now, but for me that is not an option! I have tried it on two separate occasions, leaving a huge gap of time in between, but I am apparently allergic to the glue. The result, I wanted to scratch my eyes out! My eyes itched like crazy and my eyes swelled shut, staying that way for over a week! Needless to say, I had to find a plan “B”!

I am truly against tattooing eyebrows and eyeliner on as it is not only permanent, but I think that it looks exactly like its name. So instead, I started using Latisse, which works great for me. There are other products similar, but I have not tried them. My eyelashes grew back super long and thick. So long, that I actually had to stop using it so often as my eyelashes were hitting my sunglasses lenses!

I am not a doctor or nurse, so consult with one when you get the prescription for the product, but I wanted to give you a few tips that I learned while using this product!

I am a little sensitive to the product, so I use it at night and every other day or so.

I found that the applicators that come with the Latisse are way too big and waste the product. I actually use a really fine brush applicator from another product that I clean after every application. This works great!

  • I put 1 drop of the Latisse into the lid and dip my applicator into the liquid that way. There is more than enough for both eyes.

  • I carefully put the product right along my lash line avoiding the inner eyelid as eyelashes were growing where they weren’t supposed to be growing…oops! I also try to avoid getting it on my lower lashes, as they were getting too long for my liking, just a personal preference!

  • I actually use all of the remaining product in the lid on my eyebrows, which has helped to keep my brows full and thick!

Here’s to being 50, Fabulous & Finally Free with long lashes!

Little girl with pigtails, 50, fabulous & finally free.com

As a mother, you look forward to your child’s successes. From the moment you drop them off for their “first” day of Kindergarten, you embark on a seemingly unending voyage of “firsts.” The first time they ride a bike, write their name, play an instrument, sing a song, or play a sport – they all happen for the “first” time. If you’re like me, you photograph most of these firsts and do your best to chronicle them in scrapbooks or journals (or even on a site like Shutterfly where many people store their photos). As kids get older, it becomes harder to document these days – anyone who’s tried to get a 13 year old to hold still for a picture knows what I mean. If I had a nickel for every picture of a tween / teen rolling their eyes at me that I have taken, I would be rich! The tween / teen years feel like a bobsled ride as the years fly by and you become less of an active part of your child’s life and more of a spectator.

This year for me has been something of a blur, my youngest (my baby!) graduates from high school this year, while her older sister graduates from college. I find myself reflecting on how fast the last 18 and 21 years (respectively) of their lives have gone by. In the sea of “firsts” that I chronicled, I never stopped to document the last “firsts.” The last time I drove each of my children to school, the last school concert I attended, the last lunch I packed…these happened almost without my noticing and now they’re part of our family history. I’m not saying I miss taking my kids to school, the stress of that, when I first went back to work was intense!

I am proud of all of my children; they’re all strong, smart and caring people. They all have plans and will accomplish great things as they march forward into their futures. I have done my job as they say, I raised them to be independent and capable individuals and they are living up to that in every way I could ask.

As proud as I am of them, I have found myself daydreaming here and there about the days when my kids were all shorter than me, piled into my car ready to go to school, each one clutching a lunch made by me. I will be strong, I will be proud, but there will be a small part of me looking back and wishing maybe we had time for one more last “first.”

Charcoal powder with a toothbrush, 50, Fabulous & Finally Free.com

Natural Teeth Whitening Charcoal

Who doesn’t want bright white teeth?

I am not very patient when it comes to teeth whitening. There are various options out there that are not only expensive and inconvenient, but the strips and messy trays left my teeth really sensitive.

Charcoal has become a main ingredient in many useful items as of late, so when I saw this whitening powder, although I was skeptical, I gave it a try. This stuff really worked for me…

There are many options out there and I haven’t researched what all of the various whiteners say they can do, but I do have a few really important words of advice…

  • USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN OPENING THE CONTAINER!

  • Use a designated toothbrush to be used only with the charcoal, as your toothbrush will never recover!

  • Dampen the toothbrush and gently touch it to the powder CAREFULLY, immediately putting the lid back on!

  • Brush your teeth in the shower or over a sink in clothes that you do not care about staining, because I am not sure how easily the splatter will come out of a white t-shirt or a white towel.

  • Be sure to try your best to contain the charcoal to INSIDE your mouth and rinse the sink immediately after finishing. I am not sure if it will stain, but that is not a risk I was willing to take.

I have read to only use the charcoal once a week, but I am not a dentist and would ask yours what he would recommend for you.

Available at many online sites.

Here is to white teeth naturally!
